Motorola Edge 70 Pro: A 6500 mAh Battery in a 7.2 mm Body
Motorola tried to combine two things that rarely go together: a very thin body and a huge battery. Did it work?
Motorola is back in the upper tier with the Edge 70 Pro – a phone that promises what usually forces a compromise: both a slim body and a large battery.
Design and display
The body is just 7.2 mm thick and weighs 183 g. The back is finished in a silicone eco-leather, the frame is plastic, and the front is protected by Gorilla Glass 7i. The phone carries IP68 and IP69 ratings, so it survives not only immersion but also high-pressure water jets.
Up front sits a 6.78-inch AMOLED panel with a 144 Hz refresh rate and 1272×2772 resolution. The standout figure is its 5,200-nit peak brightness, one of the highest in this class, which keeps the screen readable even in direct sunlight.
Battery and performance
The most interesting part is the 6,500 mAh battery packed into such a thin frame. It is backed by 90 W wired, 15 W wireless and reverse charging. Under heavy use the phone comfortably lasts a full day.
Performance comes from a MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Extreme (4 nm) chip, 8 or 12 GB of RAM and fast UFS 4.1 storage. This is not the very top flagship tier, but for daily use, gaming and photography there is more than enough power.
Cameras
The Edge 70 Pro has three 50 MP rear cameras: a main sensor with optical stabilisation (OIS), a telephoto with 3.5x optical zoom, and a 122-degree ultrawide. The front camera is also 50 MP. Compared with the Motorola Edge 60 Pro, the camera setup is slightly simplified, but for everyday shots it stays reliable.
Who is it for?
This phone suits people who value long battery life and a bright screen but do not want to carry a heavy device. If you are looking for an alternative to pricier Samsung or Apple models, Motorola offers similar comfort for less. Find more of the maker in the Motorola phones section.
