Apple Watch Ultra 4: What the Biggest Redesign Since 2022 Brings
The first serious Apple Watch Ultra rethink since 2022 promises a thinner case, twice the health sensors and blood-pressure tracking. Here's what we already know.
The Apple Watch Ultra 4 is expected to arrive in September 2026 alongside the new iPhone 18 line. According to leaks, it will be the first major design overhaul of the Ultra range since 2022, with Apple promising a slimmer case and a big jump in health sensors.
A new, thinner design
The titanium case is rumoured to be around 15% thinner than the Apple Watch Ultra 3 while keeping the 49 mm footprint, flat sapphire crystal, Digital Crown and Action Button. The toughness that made the Ultra a favourite of hikers and divers should carry over.
Display
Reports point to a larger-than-2.0-inch LTPO3 Wide-Angle OLED panel with slimmer bezels and up to 3200 nits of brightness — even better visibility in direct sunlight.
Performance
An S12 chip built on a 3 nm process is expected, with a dedicated Neural Engine for on-device AI tasks right on your wrist.
Health sensors and blood pressure
The headline change: the sensor count is said to double (to eight, arranged in a ring), allowing direct measurement instead of algorithmic estimates. Apple has already submitted an enhanced blood-pressure alert feature to the US FDA that should warn about hypertension spikes in real time. Glucose monitoring isn't expected this generation.
Battery and connectivity
No dramatic capacity jump is rumoured, but a more efficient chip should extend runtime — up to roughly 72 hours in low-power mode. Connectivity gains 5G RedCap, Wi-Fi 7 and improved satellite SOS.
Who it's for
This is a watch for endurance athletes, divers and hikers who need toughness and long battery life. Its main rivals are the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 and the Garmin Fenix 8. You can compare every Apple smartwatch in our catalogue.
Price and date
The official price hasn't been announced; it's expected to stay close to its predecessor — around €899, though new sensors could nudge it up. The announcement is planned for 9 September, with sales from 19 September.
